Cabin in the Sky was the twenty-first episode of A Different World's sixth season, also the 140th overall series episode. The episode, which written by Reggie Rock Blythewood, and directed by Henry Chan, was first broadcasted on NBC-TV on June 10, 1993.
Summary[]
Dwayne and Whitley plan a romantic getaway for the weekend. When Mr. and Mrs. Gaines join them, things don't go as planned.
Storyline[]
Strapped for cash, Whitley and Dwayne opt to share a cabin with Mr. Gaines and his wife, in an attempt at a long-delayed honeymoon. The Gaineses have a major fight over Vernon's distant relationship with their son—whom he left in charge of The Pit in his absence—and refuse to share a room, throwing a major curve into the Wayneses' plans for a romantic weekend.
Dwayne and Whitley want to spend a quiet weekend away, but they must share the cost of a cabin with another couple. They get Mr. Gaines and his wife, Velma (Bebe Drake), to come along. What a mistake! The Gaines' begin to argue over their son Darnelle's (guest star T.K. Carter) inabilities. Not only does the arguing make the weekend awful, but the Gaines refuse to sleep with each other and force Dwayne and Whitley to sleep with them. Meanwhile, their son Darnelle is mismanaging The Pit and driving Lena and Charmaine crazy. Upon Mr. Gaines' return from the weekend, he confronts his son. Finally, Darnelle and his father reconcile their expectations of each other and Whitley and Dwayne can get a peaceful night's sleep. Some get-away!
